FEATURED ARTIST - George Kreif

“The graphic aspect of my illustration has always been there. A triangle and set of French curves are never far from my drawing table. Also not far away are art reference books on American Art from the 1930’s to the 60’s from which I draw a lot of my Inspiration."

After graduating from a four year, private, mid-western art school, George relocated to the West coast where he has been freelancing ever since. Road biking and world travel fill his free time.

His client list includes: American Airlines, Blockbuster Video, Los Angeles Times, Louisiana Downs, Las Vegas Hilton, Mail Boxes Etc., DIRECTV, United Airlines, Pizza Hut, Calloway Golf, Sony, Matrix Direct, General Instruments, Halozyme, Holocom Networks Inc., WD-40, IMED, INTEL

“These are a series of illustrations I completed for MJE Marketing and their client, San Diego, California Airport Authority.

The large illustration with a prominent airplane on the tarmac and a smaller version positioned above sets the theme, air travel to a vibrant and prosperous, yet exotic and welcoming city. Attempting to show all these themes in one opening piece was the challenge. The answer was a warmly painted, multi-layered montage illustration. To add interest and character I choose to do the art in a late 50’s, early 60’s travel poster style, together with my own 2005 slant.

Accompanying the main illustration are a series of illustrations with the same color and style theme as the opening art piece. These images, serve as micro visions of what San Diego has to offer the traveler. Depicted are tourism, business (both high tech and agricultural) and the World Class Airport that is Lindberg Field. As a final form of “glue” to bring these images together I used my favorite local icon, the palm tree, for both a dash of color contrast and a hint of the exotic.”

“We’ve been working with George for years and have never been anything but pleased. The caliber of his work is excellent and he’s easy to work with. And just to put the icing on the cake, his conceptual interpretations are on target, he is up to date technologically, and he has never let us down in a deadline.”
