FEATURED ARTIST - TED JOHNSTON

"There was a myriad of design inspirations conjured by the latest of the Harry Potter novels. Narrowing them down for this work was difficult to say the least. The Order of the Phoenix takes us to a darker, more sinister place in the magical world, and this illustration is meant to communicate that feeling of foreboding."

The Order of the Phoenix

Ted Johnston is a digital illustrator whose images vibrate with striking photorealism, engaging color and infinite detail. Compelled as much by the process of creating as by the finished piece itself, he strives not only to generate the best work possible, but to create images that leave a lasting impression on the mind. His use of reflective metals and distressed real-world materials gives his work that extra element of realism in an illustrated world of mystery and beauty.

"Mysterious expression with powerful skill!"

"Illustrative contrast is an excellent way of enchanting the eye and the mind. Not just with color, but in lighting, materials, and especially concept. The infinite realism and heavy contrast of this illustration is a direct metaphor for the storyline of this spy novel: danger lurks in unexpected places."
