Theresa Howell Rising Moon Publishing - Arizona My Name is Gabriela John Parra was chosen from a national roster of artists to illustrate the book cover and all inside illustrations for "My Name is Gabriela" a children's book on the first woman Latina to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. The book will be released in Fall 2005. First of a series of Latino Role Models.

His calligraphy was also exceptional in the presentation of a poem in the storyline.

The image selected was the "Shoe Thief" where the woman with polka dot skirt is running after her Boston Terrior on the leash with the shoe in his mouth.

She is a Keynote Speaker, featured by Adweek Magazine on "Marketing, Career Development, and Self-Promotion for Commercial Artists". Her recent speech, "Creativity and Imagination: Powerful Resources for Everyday Life" was given in the grand ball room of the Red Lion Hotel in Santa Barbara with over 1000 in attendance for the state convention of the largest women's organization in the world, Beta Sigma Phi.
As an Educator, she has lectured at University of California at Santa Barbara in undergraduate communications classes for three years as a Graduate Teaching Associate, and has been an Adjunct Faculty at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, and Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara.
She recently has been accepted into the doctoral program with worldwide cohorts and scholars at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, California. It is a 6 year program for working professionals and she will specialize in creative expression. The curriculum emphasizes collaborative learning, and reflection in 6 major areas: emotional, spiritual, physical, intellectual, creative, and community. Residential retreats will be held at Mt. Madonna and Omega Institute. "I believe in life-long learning in our professional journeys. This program will add new dimensions and worldwide resources to my practice as an Artist Representative and Creative Consultant."
Her educational background includes both a B.A. and M.A. degree in Speech Communications from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and professional certificates in Public Relations from New York University, and Advertising and Marketing Institute from University of Southern California.
